My excitement over getting a brand new Bosch dishwasher was short-lived. I cannot stand (!!!) our new dishwasher, and am only posting this review as a means to get it out there, since there seems to be nothing that can be done about it.
Our Whirlpool dishwasher of 12 years died, and so we were in the market for a new one. Without time to do a lot of browsing in appliance stores, we checked out our neighbor’s Bosch, and decided to go with whichever Bosch we could find online in our price range. We landed on the Bosch Ascenta 24″ Tall Tub, Model #SHX5AV55UC.
If you are a self-proclaimed perfectionist as I am, DO NOT BUY THIS!!!
Sure, it does an ok job washing our dishes.
However: What is REALLY bugging me is the cool red light on the floor (that tells you it is running) has a light leak and so it’s just a big red mess. This probably won’t bother most of you, but it looks bad and it’s not how it’s designed to be, so it bugs me immensely! On top of this, Bosch was infuriating to work with on this issue. They assumed it was installed incorrectly and said if that were the case, I would need to pay $150 trip charge for a technician to come out and look. “Lucky” for me, the tech, once here, let me know it’s a “known issue” with these dishwashers. So, no trip charge for me, but why are they selling these with a “known issue”?!?! And wasting their techs’ time (and mine!) to come out and look? There is no fix. And no resolution.
(And while we’re at it, the bottom rack rolls off the track, every single time we pull it out.)
So – in short, it does an ok job cleaning dishes. But………… it raises my blood pressure nonetheless!!!
UPDATE: So I tried to post my review on the Bosch site, and they responded with this:
“Thank you for taking the time to review your Bosch product! Our staff has read your review and values your contribution. Unfortunately, your review does not meet all of our website guidelines so it will not be published on our site. Thank you for sharing!”
Too funny. ; )
